TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several foreign investors have expressed interest in investing in airport management in Indonesia. After India, German investors have also expressed interest in airport management.
Investment Coordinating Board’s (BKPM) infrastructure investment planning director Rudy Salahuddin said German investors had asked BKPM to facilitate cooperation with PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) and PT Angkasa Pura II to discuss more on airport management investment plan.
The inclusion of foreign investors in managing airports will further optimize services and management of several airports.
AP I president director Tommy Soetomo said he welcomed the plan to establish cooperation between government and private investors and he is also willing to work with local and foreign investors.
“We’ve been working well for about five years with GVK Infrastructure from India to build a new airport in Yogyakarta,” said Tommy on Monday.
After India, Tommy said several other foreign investors had also mulled cooperation with AP I for airport management.
Those foreign investors are from France, Japan and Germany. So far, only investor from India that has realized its cooperation plan.
However, Tommy could not yet mention which airports that will have their management undertaken in cooperation with private investors because these investors are still conducting studies in several airports and also still waiting for approval from the Transportation Ministry.
