TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In preparation for the Eid al-Fitr homecoming, roads along the Cilegon-Merak route will be expanded. The expansion was made to prevent severe congestion that often occurs during homecoming season.
Suryanto, an official of the Public Works Ministry for Banten Province, said that the government will begin to initiate repair work on roads in Cilegon.
Suryanto said that there is 1,200 meters of roads that needs to be repaired and expanded. Suryanto added that the repairs are necessary because the road directly connects the Merak toll gate with Merak Port, where home comers will line up to take ferries to cross the Sunda Strait to reach Sumatera.
Previously, Chief of Banten Highway and Spatial Agency Widodo Hadi, said that there will be three State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) that will work on several main roads located in several areas in the province, including Simpang Munjul, Pamulang, Pajajaran, Otista, Pakupatan-Palima, Hasyim Ashari and Palima-Teneng Market.
