BI Prepares Rp125tn Cash Money for Eid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia is ready to circulate Rp119 trillion to Rp125 trillion of cash money to welcome this year's Ramadan and Eid.

Agus Martowardojo, the central bank's governor, estimates that the need for cash this year will reach the maximum circulation target that the bank pegged.

"Therefore, we will continue to monitor [the circulation] so that we can be sure there is enough cash supply," he said yesterday.

Compared to last year, the amount of cash in circulation in this year's Ramadan-Eid has risen by eight percent.

New Bill

BI deputy governor Ronald Waas said the bank is still unsure whether the new Rp50,000 bill—named Uang Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI Money) will also be circulated during the 2015 Ramadan-Eid season.
