TEMPO.CO, Tangerang – The Tangerang Legislative Council (DPRD) of Banten ratified Tuesday a regional regulation on Child Protection proposed by the Tangerang City Administration.
Yati Rohayati, the chair of the Child Protection Regional Regulation Special Committee, suggested the Tangerang Administration enforce the regulation to safeguard children and step up protection for them.
“Child protection is a collective responsibility of the regional government, parents, the society and all the other stakeholders, so that through this joint commitment children can feel secure and protected, thus they can grow well,” she said.
Separately, Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin said the regulation was a form of solution to meeting the rights of the city’s children. “So that there will be no more children who fall victim to violence or neglected,” he said.
Sachrudin added the regulation was also part of his administration’s commitment to transforming Tangerang into a child-friendly city.
“This is one of the Tangerang Administration’s endeavors to turn Tangerang city into a child-friendly city,” he said.
