TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) has slammed Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama for suggesting motorcycle taxis, locally known as ojek, join motorcycle taxi operator Go-Jek.
Jakarta Organda head Shafruhan Sinungan claimed Ahok had violated the Land Transportation Law No. 22/2009 on People and Goods Transportation.
"This is outrageous and embarrassing," said Shafruhan on Thursday, June 11, 2015.
Shafruhan said the governor had not been careful in supporting Go-Jek in the latter’s attempt to battle the capital's perennial traffic and empower public transportation. "We have so many overlapping regulations," he said.
Previously, Ahok said that Go-Jek could help improve ojek’s efficiency as ojek drivers would no longer have to not wait for passengers. "Imagine if they do not have to wait for passengers in random places," he said.
