TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan plans to establish the Directorate General of Sea and Coast Security at his ministry next year.
“I have initialed the letter, it has been sent to the Justice and Human Rights Ministry,” he said before lawmakers overseeing transportation affairs at the House complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
Jonan said the formation of the directorate general had long been planned at his ministry and that the new body was in line with the mandate of the Law on Sailing.
Jonan also planned to form a new institution to govern transportation in Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi (Greater Jakarta).
“For example, the transportation affairs involving different modes of transport and the light rail transit will be integrated under one management that will answer directly to the Transportation Minister,” he said.
