TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian boxer Daud Yordan challenges Ghanaian boxer Maxwell Awuku in attempt to defend his WBO title for the Asia Pacific lightweight. The fight is done at DBL Arena, Jl. Ahmad Yani Surabaya today, June 2015.
“Based on informations, Maxwell Awuku is an equal match. And he is recommended bu WBO President, Mr Leon Pebio Panoncilo Jr to meet with Daud,” said Daud Yordan’s manager, Wahju Prasetyo to the journalists in Surabaya, on Thursday.
Today’s fight is Daud’s first attempt to defend the title after he had won it by defeating Phillippine’s Roland Pontilas in Pontianak on December 2014. If Daud survived the fight, he will confirm a place in the world’s top five rank plus a chance to challenge world champion of lightwieght WBO.
Maxwell is now ranked 2 in WBO Asia Pacific and is known to have similar fighting style to Daud, which is attacking with sturdy defense. Statistic shows that Maxwell has more ring-fight experiences than Daud and both have never encounter each in a match.
Despite his optimism to win by KO-ing Maxwell, Daud says he would not be careless in the fight.
