TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said the city administration was set to take over the operation of some Transjakarta buses that were presently run by other operators.
Ahok said city-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta would take control of the Transjakarta buses should their operators be incapable of doing their job.
Ahok said the city government would not pay the operators of Transjakarta buses that were deemed problematic, and that he would only pay them if they said they could continue operating the buses.
“If operators go on strike, we will take over the buses and provide the drivers,” Ahok said at the City Hall on Thursday, June 4, 2015.
Earlier, Transjakarta bus drivers under the management of PT Jakarta Mega Trans went on strike, demanding increased operational allowances.
Ahok asserted the Jakarta Administration would impose sanctions on operators failing to abide by contracts. “We could give them penalties,” he said.
