TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – State airliner Garuda Indonesia has opened new flights from Semarang's Ahmad Yani Airport in Central Java. The airline now serves flights to Lombok and Makassar from the airport.

"In the past, the two flights had to use two flight numbers, but starting today they will only use one flight number: GA 364 for the Semarang-Lombok flight and GA 365 for the return flight," Garuda's general manager for the Semarang branch office I Wayan Supatrayasa said on Monday, June 1.

"The direct flights are here to support the development of the tourism industry and the national economy," said Wayan added.

Garuda flies the new routes using the Bombardier CRJ 1000 Nextgen aircraft. Airfares for the Semarang-Makassar flight is Rp928,200 and while the Semarang-Lombok flight costs Rp775,300, one way.

Wayan hopes that the availability of these new flights will help introduce to passengers the tourist attractions in three cities Semarang, Makassar and Lombok.
