TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has lambasted his deputy Djarot Saiful Hidayat for overstepping his authority with regard to the 2015 Jakarta Folk Fair (PRJ). According to Ahok, the permit for the PRJ can only be issued by the Jakarta governor.

“To be honest, the deputy governor has violated the regulation. He cannot issue a permit on behalf of the Jakarta Administration,” Ahok said at the City Hall on Monday, June 1, 2015.

Ahok explained that Djarot’s position and authority are different from those of his when he served as the deputy governoor of then Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo.

"Djarot and I were running mates in the election, since I was the one who inaugurated him,” Ahok added.

Ahok revealed that there was no coordination over the PRJ before the event kicked off. Ahok added that he was only informed about the event after the opening ceremony took place on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

Basuki asserted that there would be no more documents signed by the deputy governor on behalf of the Jakarta Administration.

Earlier, Djarot inaugurated the 2015 Jakarta Folk Fair, which runs from May 30 to June 5, 2015. Djarot explained that instead of issuing the permit, he expressed complete support for the event. Djarot added that he had also sent Ahok a letter regarding the event and informed Ahok’s assistant verbally.
