TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has decided that fuel prices to remain unchanged despite increasing crude oil prices during the evaluation period of April 25-May 24, 2015.

I Gusti Nyoman Wiraatmaja Puja, the director general for oil and gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, said that the government issued the policy by considering the upcoming fasting month.

“In order to maintain the economic stability and to remove the burden for the people during the fasting month, the government has decided that as of midnight on June 1, 2015, fuel prices will remain the same,” Wiraatmaja announced in a press release, as reported by Antara on Sunday, May 31, 2015.

According to Wiraatmaja, the Premium fuel outside Java, Madura and Bali would remain at Rp7,300/liter, subsidized diesel fuel at Rp6,900/liter and subsidized kerosene at Rp2,500/liter.

He added that the Premium price in the three islands would be determined by Pertamina and the government by taking the social and economic conditions into account.

The government has considered adjusting fuel prices once in three months, instead of bimonthly, until October 2015 prior to deciding the proper price evaluation period.
