China Ready to Invest US$360bn in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of companies from Shenzen, China, are ready to invest in Indonesia through 16 projects worth of US$360 million. Ye Chang Fu, the deputy chairperson of economic committee of Shenzen City, said that Indonesia was an important partner for the city. Last year, Indonesia and Shenzen engaged in trading cooperation generating US$3.07 billion worth of transactions.
“Exports from Shenzen reached US$29.5 billion, roughly a 10 percent increase,” Mr. Ye said at the Jakarta Convention Center on Friday, May 29, 2015.
According to Mr. Ye, Indonesian investments in Shenzen are worth US$18.96 million in 38 projects.
Currently, 17 companies from Shenzen; including Huawei, ZTE, Han Laser and Hytera; have invested US$68.86 million in Indonesia. Ye ensured that as a department, the Shenzen Municipal Government Services was responsible to develop the economy and trade of the city, and actively encourage companies to engage in cooperation with Indonesia.
Mr. Ye also called on Indonesian companies and people to attend the 2015 Guangdong Maritime Silk Road International Exposition from the 21st century.
