TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) has ensured that the rice to be distributed by the Agency is free from synthetic rice. Bulog’s director of public srvice Leily Pelitasari Soebekty claimed that the agency always applies quality control to ensure its product.
“I can guarantee that the rice in our storage houses is organic rice,” Leily told Tempo after attending a discussion in Jakarta on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
According to Leily, Bulog was not linked with the plastic rice rumor spreading over the last two weeks. Leily said that Bulog conducted monitoring once in a week.
Earlier, the Bekasi administration received a report regarding a finding of plastic rice at Mutiara Gading Timur market. Adisam Z.N., the head of Laboratory Testing at PT Sucofindo, reported that the company found plastic material among the grains he tested. Adisam added that the rice contained three types of plastic materials, namely BBP, DEHP and DINP.
“Those are the basic materials to produce pipes, cables and others,” he said.
