TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of Indonesian films reappeared in Cannes international movie festival in France, which was held just recently. ‘Tabula Rasa’, ‘Filosofi Kopi’ and a short movie entitled ‘The Fox Exploits the Tiger’s Might’ are each screened in different session of the festival.
According to Indri Ardini Kesuma, a staff of the Indonesian Consulate General in Marseille, ‘Tabula Rasa’ by Adriyanto Dewo was selected in the Cinema des Antopodes in Cannes Cinephiles. The film is set with scenes of Minang distinctive foods delicacy.
The short film ‘The Fox Exploits the Tiger’s Might’ is submitted by the Indonesian Film Board (BPI) for La Semaine de La Critique. Directed by Lucky Kuswandi, the film depicts a story about two preteen boys discovering their sexuality and the relation between power and sex, in the awkward social setting of a sleepy small town with a military base.
‘Filosofi Kopi’, which is based on a book of the same title by Dewi Lestari, succeeded in keeping around 40 interested-buyers and film enthusiasts on their seats until the end of the film in the five-minute screening test.
Indonesian Ambassador to France, Hotmangaradja M. P. Pandjaitan gave a welcoming speech before the screening of ‘Tabula Rasa’.
