TEMPO.CO, Bandung – Bandung Police personnel raided the Saritem red-light district in the city on Wednesday evening and arrested 169 prostitutes—six of them were underage.
"We have six underage prostitutes," said Bandung Police chief Sr. Comr. Angesta Romano Yoyol, on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
Angesta said the police were still looking into the case. “We are investigating whether this can be categorized as violating the penal code,” he said.
He added the prostitutes would be transferred to the Bandung Social Agency for self-development programs, and that the Bandung Police would continue their crackdown against prostitution in the West Java’s capital.
“The city administration has ordered Saritem’s closure, but we found that there were still 400 brothels operating,” he said.
