TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – World Bank president Jim Young Kim met with President Joko "Jokowi" the State Palace on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Accompanying Jokowi at the one-hour closed meeting were State Secretary Pratikno, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto.
“The World Bank is Indonesia’s partner,” Bambang told a press conference at the Presidential Office on Wednesday.
To improve the partnership, Bambang explained, Jokowi has given instructions focusing on three areas: healthcare, particularly mothers’ health and children nutrition; business licensing reform, particularly to facilitate investments in Indonesia; and tourism development.
According to Bambang, the World Bank has initiated a plan in line with the government’s program to jack up the number of foreign tourists to Indonesia, “which in turn will boost Indonesia’s economy in the macro level.”
