TEMPO.CO, Serang – Personnel from the Banten Police’s Special Crime Directorate foiled Tuesday an attempted smuggling of 500 liters of subsidized diesel fuel. The police seized from the operation a fuel truck and arrested four suspects: the truck driver, his co-driver, and two gas station attendants.
The police nabbed the four when they were filling the truck with diesel fuel at a gas station in Rangkas Bitung, Banten.
The suspects said they tried to smuggle the fuel by modifying the truck’s tank so it could contain 500 liters of diesel fuel. The suspects installed extra tanks on the truck’s left and right lower sides—the right one contained 320 liters and the left 180 liters.
The suspects bought the diesel fuel at the gas station at Rp6,900 per liter and sold it to industries at Rp9,000.
Ncek, one of the gas station attendants, said he received Rp20,000 from the truck driver for each transaction.
