TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the National Police (Polri) Public Relations Division Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan said that there is a real possibility that the recently busted celebrity-prostitution ring headed by R.A, is linked to the prevalence of 'sexual gratification' in the country.
"We'd like to establish if there really is a practice of granting sexual favours in certain circles in Indonesia," said Charliyan when asked about the progress of the celebrity prostitution case in Jakarta on Monday, May 18, 2015.
According to Charliyan, such possibility remains open considering that the monetary value of such acts are quite prohibitive. "Ordinary people cannot afford such things - as such, we suspect that 'sexual gratification' in exchange for certain favours may exist," Charliyan said.
That said, no individuals have been publicly named and/or linked to a particular transaction conducted by the recently-busted celebrity pimp known by his initials, R.A, and Charliyan refused to cause speculations by elaborating on his point. "We cannot make any baseless accusations," said Charliyan.
As such, Polri has offered to help South Jakarta Police to investigate tand further develop the case.
Previously, South Jakarta Police have successfully busted a celebrity prostitution after a sting at a South Jakarta hotel - where a celebrity known as A.A was apprehended and questioned as a witness in the case. R.A faces up to one year and four months in prison for running the prostitution ring.
