TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – National Police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti said he had received intelligence on a planned massive rally on May 20, 2015 targeting the State Palace staged by mobs of college students and the society.
“To avoid [troubles], we will take maximum anticipative measures,” he said at the State Palace on Monday, May 18, 2015. “We will communicate this [to related parties], so hopefully there will be no law violations during the rally,” he said.
Badrodin said he heard the planned demonstration from the police's intel, adding he was suspicious it would take place bereft of police consent as the force had yet to receive any report about it.
“There has been no such report to the National Police HQ so far, but I will check with the Jakarta Police,” he said.
Badrodin said he had yet to know the motive behind the planned demo. “But whatever it is we will prepare for it,” he said.
