TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla once popped a notion that he plans to rip off drug dealers' wealth. Amid criminal charges, Kalla said that the nation should confiscate drug dealer’s asset.
"Once we have his asset, he will be ripped off his belongings," said Kalla. "If we have the regulation, we will do that."
In response to the notion, Head of National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Commissioner General Anang Iskandar, said that it is not easy to confiscate drug dealer’s asset. Besides requiring specific technique of investigation to reveal their asset, he claimed that BNN needs to improve their integrity.
"Investigators need to have honesty," said Anang.
Anang claimed that upon investigating such cases, money is always a temptation. "If you cannot hold back against the temptation, the case will never reach court," said Anang.
Moreover, he added that BNN investigated 15 money laundering cases based on drug business in 2014. As a result, BNN has confiscated more than Rp100 billion.
