Garuda, LOT to Open New Route between Jakarta and Warsaw

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia President Director M. Arif Wibowo met Polish airline LOT CEO Sebastian Mikosz in Warsaw to open a new flight route connecting Warsaw and Jakarta. The agreement was made on the sidelines of Indonesian Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel's official visit to Poland, Indonesian Embassy counselor Roos Diana Iskandar told Antara on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
Both airlines will start to implement the Special Priority Agreement (SPA) in the initial stage of their cooperation.
Arif said the currently Garuda has served flights between Jakarta and two cities in Europe—London and Amsterdam—and plans to expand its flight routes to Europe.
"Based on a study, Poland is another promising country of destination. Therefore, Garuda is ready to implement the SPA with LOT," Arif said.
LOT CEO Sebastian Mikosz said that he was pleased with the meeting, calling it as the right momentum to start a closer cooperation. Mr. Mikosz added that LOT is planning to strengthen its fleet and plans to expand its operation to Asia.
