TEMPO.CO, Kupang - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) administration proposed the formation of seven new autonomous regions in the province in 2010-2015, yet the central government has not yet approved any of it to date.

“There are seven proposals for new autonomous regions sent to the central government,” said NTT Governor Frans Lebu Raya on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

The seven regions are Adonara from East Flores regency, Maumere city in Sikka, Pantar in Alor, Amanatun in South Timor Tengah, South Sumba, Pahunga Lodu and East Sumba Jaya from East Sumba regency.

Frans said Adonara and Maumere had met the requirements to become autonomous regions, and that according to the results of a 2014 factual verification the capitals of both regencies would be discussed to become autonomous regions at the House of Representatives.

Frans said both regions were among the 21 regencies/cities nationwide proposed as new autonomous regions, yet the House lawmakers for the 2009-2014 period decided to postpone the talks in House sessions in 2014-2019.
