Almost 50 Million Cyber Attacks Addressed to Indonesia in 2014

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Security Incident Response team on Internet Infrastructure (ID-SIRTII) has recorded 48.8 million cyber attacks addressed to Indonesia in 2014. The attack peaked in August with total of 18 million attacks.
The Chairman of ID-SIRTII Rudi Lumanto said attackers are mostly from inside Indonesia that launches exploitation attacks.
“Threats mostly aimed to website, with go.id sites being the most-attacked,” said Rudi in a Virtus Security seminar on Thursday in Jakarta.
As many as 12,007,808 of the cases are in the form of malware activities; 24,168 cases are due to security gap and 5,970 cases are record leakages.
Rudi believes increasing cyber attacks are cause by several factors such as advanced cyber threats that omits borders between countries, technology device convergence, and increasing number of device users.
Globally in one minute there are 232 personal computers (PCs) infected by malware, 20 phishing cases, 12 websites hacked and 416 websites exposed to hacking attempts.
