TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) reported Thursday the graft case centering on the procurement of the education facilities in the 2014 Jakarta regional budget to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“The ICW has found suspected state losses of Rp278 billion from three packages,” said Firdaus Ilyas, ICW budget monitoring and analysis head, on Thursday, March 26, 2015.

The ICW came to the KPK headquarters today to report the alleged corruption in the procurement of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, books, 3D scanners, printers and fitness equipment for multiple schools in the capital.

The ICW said according to the results of their investigation there had been indications of corruption committed by Jakarta officials and their partners.

The ICW has been relentlessly calling on the anti-graft body to unravel the case. Firdaus said his organization was irked by the fact that the KPK seemed to have yet to take any serious measures to deal with the case.

“What else do they need? This has met all the criteria—bothering the public, related to the people’s interests, involving complex bureaucratic networks, and inflicting huge losses on the state,” he said.

Firdaus, however, said he was aware that the KPK had yet to take any step to follow-up on the report filed by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama on alleged corruption in the 2015 Jakarta budget plan due to the non-existence of proof of any state losses. “But for the 2014 budget and backwards it is easy for the KPK to unveil the networks and the tricks,” he said.
