TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to officially open a Special Economic Zone in the tourism sector at Tanjung Lesung, Banten, on Monday February 23, 2015, Pandeglang Communications and Information Agency head Yahya Gunawan said on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
Yahya said Banten Acting Governor Rano Karno and Pandeglang Regent Erwan Kurtubi will accompany Jokowi during his work visit in Banten. Jokowi will also visit Lebak Regency.
The Special Economic Zone was developed at Lesung Beach covering Sobang and Panimbang Districts. The Special Economic Zone is planned to be a water city by 2020.
Tanung Lesung area is a signature tourist destination in Banten, in addition to Carita Beach. The area has been declared as a “cultural heritage” since the location is near Ujung Kulon national Park, Mount Krakatau and Umang Island.
The Special Economic Zone will be built on a land with a total size of 1,300 hectares containing tourism facilities, including hotels, tourism schools and others.
