TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohammed Hashim, supported the application of apital punishment against drug dealers. Zahrain said that each nation has its own regulation that must be respected as a part of its sovereignty.
"The most important thing for us is to understand the existing regulation," said Zahrain, despite the fact that there are six Malaysians currently waiting to be executed in Indonesia.
Zahrain added that Malaysia also has the same policy against drug dealers. He claimed that Malaysia has also earned a number of complaints from other nations, including the United Nations. However, Zahrain urged Indonesia not to back down in exercising its sovereignty.
