Hundreds of Bikers Netted While Trespassing No-Bike Lane

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police began imposing fine to motor riders passing Jalan M. Thamrin and Medan Merdeka Barat on January 18. The socialization of no-motorbike lane had actually taken place since December 17, 2014.
Senior Commissioner Hindarsono from Jakarta Metro Police said that during the first day, January 18, imposed fine to 208 motorbikes. “We also warned 28 riders,” Hindarsono told Tempo earlier today.
The police also confiscated 130 driving license, 75 vehicle registrations, and three motorbikes. Those insisting on trespassing the lane will be charged with maximum fine of Rp500,000 or two months of imprisonment, according to Law No. 22/2009 on Traffic.
