TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, urged the people to safe fuel despite the low price. "We need to avoid over-consumption since this is becoming a rare commodity," he said on Monday, January 12, 2015.
Sofyan said that fuel consumption continues to show an increasing trend, which is why he asked the people to be smart and help to conserve fuel supply.
After the increase of subsidized fuel price in November 2014, non-subsidized fuel consumption rate has increased by an average of 20 percent. However, the condition was reversed after the government lowered the price of subsidized fuel.
Other than the world's crude oil price, US Dollar exchange rate also affects fuel prices. Therefore, Sofyan plans to shorten the evaluation period of fuel prices from once a month to once every two weeks. "So we can anticipate the fluctuating prices," he said.
