TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Palembang Mayor Harnojoyo has assigned provincially-owned company PT SP2J as an operator of waste-based power plant in at Sukawinatan, Palembang. The company is expected to sell the waste-power electricity to the state electricity company (PLN) in March-April 2015.
The waste-based power plant, developed in Palembang with assistance from the central government, is expected to become a pilot project for other regions.
“Palembang will be the first region in utilizing waste-based electricity,” Harnojoyo said on Wednesday, January 07, 2015.
The Energy and Mineral Sources Ministry, through the New and Renewable Energy Directorate General, built the waste-based power plant that is capable to generate 500 kWH from 500-600 tons of waste per day.
Project manager Mussanaf said the waste-based power plant will be the first in Indonesia. He predicted that the waste at Sukamiantan could produce methane gas at a rate of 600 nmh3 per hour.
