TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three Indonesian actors from Gareth Evans's martial art films "The Raid" and "The Raid 2: Berandal" will purportedly be appearing in J.J. Abrams's forthcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
Iko Uwais, the protagonist hero Rama; Yayan Ruhian, who plays Mad Dog in the first film and Prakoso in the second; and Cecep Arif Rahman, who plays The Assassin in "The Raid 2: Berandal", will reportedly be joining Abrams's film. However, there has been no confirmation date on the news, according to the Telegraph.
"The Raid" and "The Raid 2: Berandal" have been acclaimed for their brutal yet stunningly well-choreographed fight scenes, and the fact that all three actors are skilled martial artists. It suggests that, if the casting rumor is true, Abrams's film may well feature some impressive hand-to-hand fighting.
British actress and Oxford graduate Maisie Richardson-Sellers also recently confirmed that she would be appearing in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" alongside a cast that includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver.
The seventh Star Wars movie will likely present a string of new faces, as well as three stars from the original trilogy: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.
