Taxi Companies to Adjust Fares

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Manager Corporate Secretary of taxi company Express Group Merry Anggraini said that the taxi company will soon adjust its fares following the fuel price increase. She said that the adjustment will begin from resetting the taxi meter. "We have already in the transitional period," said Merry.
Jakarta Land Transportation Organization regulated the new taxi fares on December 5, stating the starting charge of Rp7,500 and kilometer charge of Rp4,600. As for hourly basis waiting rate, the organization sets it to be Rp48,000.
Therefore, Merry said that the adjustment will not violate regulation. Moreover, she said that tariff adjustment also considers other factors, such as inflation and provincial minimum wage.
Whereas, Head of Public Relations of taxi company Blue Bird, Teguh Wijayanto, said that the taxi company has yet to adjust new fares. It is because Blue Bird is still undergoing a number of process before being able to reset all its taxi meters.
