TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Mobile phone network operator Telkomsel has launched Indonesia's first high-speed Internet services called the 4G LTE (long-term evolution) in the second week of December 2014. Telkomsel president director Alex Sinaga said this was the company's first 4G commercial operation after conducting a tryout in 2010.
"The last time we did this was in Bali during the 2013 APEC summit," Alex said through Telkomsel's official website on Tuesday, December 9.
Alex said the company has installed more than 200 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) in Jakarta and Bali. By 2019, he said, Telkomsel will expand its 4G LTE services in 22 provinces in Indonesia.
