TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Maintenance Facility (PT GMF) AeroAsia, which is a Garuda Indonesia's subsidiary, is planning to build an aircraft maintenance center at the Bintan aviation industrial region in Riau Islands. The workshop will be established in cooperation with Bintan Aviation Investment (BAI).
"The needs for aircraft maintenance in Southeast Asia keep increasing," said Garuda Indonesia CEO Emirsyah Satar on Monday, December 8, 2014.
According to GMF director Richard Budihadianto, the aircraft workshop will be built near the Bintan airport, which is currently under construction. The workshop will focus on providing maintenance services of wide body aircraft such as the Boeing 747, Boeing 777 and Airbus A330.
The workshop will be built in three phases. BAI director Franz Gunara said that the first phase is targeted to be finished later in 2016.
