TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several regions in Indonesia are experiencing electricity crisis. Gorontalo and Kendari are among two cities in the country that experience black out every day.
Blackout in the two cities has disrupted activities of the residents for two weeks. In one day blackout can even last for seven houses.
"Blackout happens anytime. Even during the weekend,” said Suwardi, a resident in North Gorontalo Regency, Friday, December 5, 2014.
Basri, a Kendari resident, also voice a similar concern.
In Kendari, blackout can happen four times in a day, two times during the day and two times in the evening.
He also said that the blackout can break electronic devices.
"Frequent blackout may also cause fire,” he said.
In the meantime, Manager of Customer Service of Kendari PLN (state electricity company) Kamaruddin said that blackouts in Kendari happened because one of the power generators in Nii Tanasa steam-fuelled power plant (PLTU) is broken and the rented electricity generator is also broken.
"The case of underground cable theft at Poasia diesel-fuelled power plant (PLTD) some time ago has also worsened the matter,” he added.
