TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team chief Faisal Basri suggested that the government increase subsidized fuel prices in November 2014.
“Now is the best momentum to pressurize the prices disparity,” Faisal said on Monday, November 17, 2014.
According to Fisal, prices of consumer goods are decreasing so that the fuel price hike would not have significant impact on the inflation rate.
Faisal added that if the government increased fuel prices in December, the inflation rate would soar as the public’s expenditure for year-end necessities would rise.
“The inflation rate would return to normal in April. But it would be too long to wait until April,” he said.
Earlier, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the government decided to postpone rising fuel prices asworld’s oil prices had dropped to US$85 per barrel.
