TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo had an opportunity to deliver a speech at the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia. In his speech, President Jokowi introduced the concept of ‘blusukan’ (impromptu visit).
According to the President, the success to manage Solo and Jakarta is not because of the new system.
"I only introduce the heart-to-heart dialog approach to the people. That’s what I call ‘blusukan’," President Jokowi said in his remarks, Saturday, November 15, 2014.
President Jokowi also said that with blusukan, the working programs formulated by the govenrment would be adjusted to what the people need because the leaders would receive inputs from the people.
Blusukan, the President pointed out, also brings about an efficient, transparent, and accountable system.
"(With blusukan), the available potentials will be explored maximally,” he said.
For the record, it was not the first President Jokowi introduced the blusukan concept in international forums.
During the APEC Summit in Beijing, China several weeks ago, President Jokowi also mentioned the blusukan concept before the CEO of multinational companies.
