TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government of South Sumatera Province will accelerate the infrastructure project in the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Tanjung Api-api, Banyuasin, South Sumatera, particularly the railway construction from Tanjungenim to Tanjung Api-api.
"The railway development from Tanjungenim to Tanjung Api-api will be prioritized because it is urgent. For this matter, we already have the approval from the Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan," said Governor of South Sumatera Alex Noerdin on Monday, November 16, 2014.
Alex said that the railway that is heading to the KEK will increase the efficiency of coal transport from Bukit Asam. As a result, production cost can be reduced and the coal's selling price can be lowered.
In addition to the railway development, the government of the South Sumatera Province will also accelerate the development of a harbor in the KEK.
Quoting the minutes from the meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Alex explained that the infrastructure development acceleration in the KEK is part of the Working Cabinet’s program, where the central government wishes to develop new airports and 24 deep seaports across Indonesia.
