TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State logistics company Perum Bulog chairman Sutarto Alimoeso said the national rice stock was secure for the next seven months. He explained Bulog had conducted market operations to secure rice supplies.
“People should not worry about the rising rice price,” he said on Sunday.
Bulog's market operations focuse not only on medium rice but also on premium standard rice. The number of national rice stock is now two million tons. “We are ready to provide rice no matter how much the people request,” he said.
Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel said prices and supplies of basic needs in November 2014 would be stable. Prices of some commodities such as meat, garlic and red onion will even decrease although insignificant. “This is because supplies to markets are relatively sufficient,” he said.
