TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four countries withdrew from the Asian BMX Champion held in Siak Regency, Riau despite the fact that the championship is the qualifier for 2016 Olympic in Rio de Janeiro. The four countries are Philippines, Kazakhtan, Myanmar and Vietnam.
“The racers of the four countries withdrew with various reasons,” said Yan Prana Jaya, the Chairman of the Indonesian Cycling Federation (ISSI) of Siak to Tempo.
Philippines has collected enough points to qualify for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic while Kazakhtan have some issues with the travel cost to participate in the competition.
Meanwhile, Vietnam and Myanmar have given up hope to secure points in the competition, let alone to reach Brazil Olympic.
In total, there are 144 athletes from nine Asian countries participating in the race. The participating countries are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Timor Leste.
