TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Industry Saleh Husin, said that he has not received any complaints or objections from business owners regarding the government's plan to increase fuel price. Saleh said that the impact of fuel price increase is relatively small.
"Industrial [sector] does not use subsidized fuel, but industrial fuel," said Saleh.
Saleh said that fuel price increase will have a bigger impact on the logistics sector. Moreover, he also said that laborers are likely to demand higher wages to compensate for the increase. Therefore, Saleh urged the government, industrial owners, and laborers to coordinate in making adjustments in relation to the fuel price increase.
"In the end, [the incresase] will burden the people in terms of overall price increase [of goods]," he said.
