TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that he will imitate South Korea’s method of developing Korean Pop (K-Pop) and implement it to improve Indonesia's creative industry. K-Pop is a music genre originated from South Korea that is popular all over the world, including in Indonesia.

Jokowi claimed that he have studied the K-Pop culture directly in South Korea. The former governor of Jakarta saw a K-Pop exhibition live twice already. He studied about the lighting and stage arrangements of the show. "They have prepared it for 13 years. It is not out of the blue," he said during a forum at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta, November 7, 2014.

He also said that Indonesia has the potential to develop a similar industry. The richness of Indonesia’s culture including dances, films, fashion and cultural music is considered worthy to surpass the K-Pop culture. The only thing required is proper management. "Don't use cheap lighting and show stages," he said referring to the current props condition in Indonesia that is far behind K-Pop.
