TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama said his frequent complaints about his subordinates' performance had been to no avail as things had not been improving.
"They consider that I have no power, only words," he said at the City Hall on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
Thus, Ahok said he was tired of complaining, and that it had wasted his energy. He added he had opted instead to take notes and give direct assessment of his subordinates' performance. Ahok said the results of their evaluation would be taken into account in deciding if he should keep or dismiss them.
Ahok took for example the recent dismissal of Manggas Rudy Siahaan from his post as chief of the Public Works Agency. He said he had repeatedly complained about the agency's sluggishness in executing projects, yet nothing changed.
"Now the pen is mightier than the sword," he said.
