TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Economy Sofyan Djalil, said that without government support, theSunda Strait Bridge project cannot be realized. He said that the government plans to cut off the project because it was considered to contradict President Joko Widodo's vision of a maritime country.
Therefore, Sofyan thinks of another way to connect Java and Sumatra, such as by expanding and creating new crossing ports. "Therefore, crossing from Java to Sumatra, or the other way around, will be faster," said Minister Sofyan.
Moreover, Sofyan said that crossing services in Sunda strait were often stop on certain days, causing vehicles to queue in line. Therefore, Sofyan plans to improve water transportation, which hopefully, will accommodate trucks that are going to pass the Sunda Strait.
