TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – State-owned enterprises PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Jasa Marga have signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese companies to develop toll roads and railways. KAI arranged the cooperation with a Chinese railway company, while PT Jasa Marga inked an agreement with a consortium led by the China International Fund (CIF).
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil said the agreement could be implemented within a few months ahead, hoping that there would be more similar ties between the two countries in the future.
“I believe the cooperation would be beneficial for companies from both countries,” Sofyan said on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry in Jakarta.
Chinese ambassador to Indonesia, Xie Feng, has lauded the cooperation signing, saying it was a good start for the relationship between the two countries. State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno said the agreement could be used as an early step to build railways and toll roads.
