TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Sofyan Djalil, held his first meeting with ministers under his portfolio, including minister of finance, trade, industry, the national development planning agency and the investment coordinating board. According to Minister Sofyan, they discussed ways to improve coordination between the ministries, not specifically about raising fuel prices.
"Wait for the government’s announcement sometime in the near future," said Sofyan, following the end of the meeting yesterday, adding that the new subsidized fuel price was an issue that had to be studied carefully. "Right now, there is nothing to be announced and today we did not discuss it."
However, he did mention that all relevant ministries agreed they will prepare a program to carry out the re-allocated subsidy funds to more productive sectors. "They will prepare the necessary programs," said Sofyan.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, said that the government will soon issue a presidential decree to ensure the legal basis for the budgets of the newly-formed ministries. "The decree will cover the budgets for the next two months. After that, the funds from the 2015 State Budget will apply," said Bambang at the end of the economic coordination meeting.
