TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak congratulated Joko “Jokowi” Widodo after attending the inauguration of the new president at People’s Consultative Assembly building on Monday, October 20, 2014.
According to Najib, Jokowi’s inauguration as the new Indonesian president was the reflection of democracy. He also congratulated former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who had successfully supported the leadership transition.
“A well-organized election reflects excellent democracy practices,” he said, adding that he had high hopes on strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relationship.
Brunei Darussalam’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah also congratulated Jokowi and hopes to have better relationship with Indoneia. Meanwhile Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot told Jokowi briefly that Australia and Indonesia are good friends.
