TEMPO.CO, JakartaAgriculture Minister Suswono inaugurated and publicized the use of the Indonesian National Single Window (INSW) system at Kualanamu aiport in Medan on Thursday, as reported by Antara News.

A Class 2 Agriculture Quarantine located within the Kualanamu airport was also inaugurated on the occasion.

Minister Suswono explained that the INSW system had been established in stages in several other locations since 2007.

In 2010, the system was fully implemented at five main seaports: Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, Tanjung Mas in Semarang (Central Java), Tanjung Perak in Surabaya (East Java), Belawan in Medan (North Sumatra), and at the Soekarno-Hatta airport in Jakarta.

The INSW system is aimed at accelerating the flow of goods, as the exports and imports were often hampered by the bureaucratic system.

"We hope that with this system the services will increase," the minister said.

He said that the system will cut costs, usually paid by businessmen, which will in turn cut production costs. With lower production costs, businessmen can improve the quality of their products.
