TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jokowi-JK Transitional Team Advisor (Ret.) General Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, revealed that the newly elected presidential and vice presidential pair,Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf 'JK' Kalla, has made a call on increasing fuel price. Therefore, fuel price will experience a Rp 3,000 increase per liter in November 2014.
"The call was made on Friday," said Luhut. Furthermore, He added that the fuel price increase will went smoothly.
Luhut said that cutting down fuel subsidy will be able to cover Indonesia's Rp 27 trillion budget deficit. Moreover, Jokowi and JK will have to cover debts related to subsidized fuel that reaches up to Rp 46 trillion. Luhut said that if the fule price is not increased the country can suffer Rp 72 trillion losses.
Luhut said that Jokowi and JK have also prepared direct financial aid program as a safety net for low-income people. However, the transitional team is still on the process of evaluating the form of the direct financial aid.
