TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) will hold another national capital market olympics for high school students to educate students about the capital market.
BEI development director Frederica Widyasari said this olympics was the fifth since the first in 2010. “We introduce the capital market to students as early as possible because the capital market has been included in the curriculum for high school students,” she said on Monday.
There will be 34 students participating in the olympics—each representing a province. They were chosen after vying with students from other schools at the provincial level. The Education and Culture Ministry, which endorses the event, is calling on students to take part in the olympics.
The materials for the competition include the primary market, secondary market, and general introduction of capital market. The event will consist of four stages. In the first stage, students are asked to prepare papers on the capital market and then present them in the second stage. The third and final stages of the competition are simulation and a quiz, respectively. The winner of the olympics will be annouced on Wednesday, which coincides with the opening of the Investor Summit.
Frederica added interest towards the competition was high, with some of its alumni becoming speakers in multiple forums. "I’ve been to an event with one of the competition's alumnus. I really admire that.”
