TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation is discussing the plan to close Surabaya city's Juanda International Airport in relation with the celebration of the National Armed Forces' (TNI) anniversary in October.

So far, the ministry has yet to finalize on the mechanism of the airport's closing.

"We only just discussed the plan," Bambang Tjahjono, director of airports for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, told Tempo on Monday, September 8.

Previously, Juanda Airport's Region III Authority announced the plan to close the airport from October 1 to 4 and on October 7 as this year's celebration of the TNI's anniversary—that falls on October 5th—will be centered at the airport.
